Dry stone is a building method by which structures are constructed from stones without any mortar to bind them together. Dry stone structures are stable because of their unique construction method, which is characterised by the presence of a load-bearing façade of carefully selected interlocking stones, as well as as being beautiful these structures are also economical due to not needing any concrete footing or drainage, they are also easily fixed and maintained and if built right can last for century's.

Greenstreets also specialize in a range of traditional garden building and maintenance techniques including Hedge laying and Cotswold stone paving.

Hedge laying.

The theory behind laying a hedge is easy. The practice is much harder—requiring skill and experience. The aim is to reduce the thickness of the upright stems of the hedgerow trees by cutting away the wood on one side of the stem and in line with the course of the hedge. This being done, each remaining stem is then laid down towards the horizontal, along the length of the hedge. Hedge laying is always performed during the late autumn or during winter months while "the sap is down". The pleached trunk may not be brought down perfectly horizontal as sap only flows upward. There are many different styles in which a hedge can be layed depending on the age and thickness and local style of laying.
